Why We Settled for Plastic, And Why We Don't Have To Anymore
Walk into almost any beautiful home and you will notice something. The furniture feels intentional. The finishes work together. The lighting matters. Someone spent years creating a space that feels warm, calm, and personal.
Then you see the pet feeder.
Plastic.
Bulky.
Something hidden in a corner.
Something tolerated.
And if you are anything like me, you have probably thought:
“There has to be a better option than this.”
I know I did.
As a lifelong pet owner, I bought nearly every automatic feeder on the market. Some worked well enough. Some failed after a few months. Most felt disposable. But almost all of them shared the same problem:
They looked like appliances, not something meant to belong in your home.
For years, I kept asking myself a question I could not shake:
Why hasn’t anyone built a pet feeder designed for the home?
Not just functional.
Not just smart.
Beautiful.
Intentional.
Furniture-grade.
The strange thing is, I had spent my entire career building products exactly like that, just not for pets.
For more than 25 years, I’ve manufactured products for luxury residences, hospitality, national retailers, and 4 to 5 star hotels through companies under B&Y Holdings, LLC. Furniture. Vanities. Fixtures. Products built to survive daily use while still looking beautiful years later.
When you spend decades designing products that live inside premium spaces, you start seeing things differently.
You notice what belongs in the room.
And what doesn’t.
Pet products felt stuck.
Most feeders solved function but ignored design.
Most pet furniture solved storage but ignored technology.
Everything felt like a compromise.
Beautiful meant dumb.
Smart meant ugly.
That never made sense to me.
So after years of searching for something that did not exist, I stopped looking and decided to build it.
That idea became KibbleKraft™.
A premium, furniture-grade smart feeding system designed to feel like it belongs in your home, because it should.
Automatic feeding. Concealed food storage. Elevated finishes. Thoughtful materials. Smart technology. A system designed with the same standards I’ve used throughout my career, kraftsmanship first.
Because your dog deserves dependable feeding.
And your home deserves better than plastic clutter.
But KibbleKraft is about something bigger than feeding.
For many of us, our pets are family.
We design our homes around the people and things we love. We care about comfort. Wellness. Beauty. The feeling of walking into a room that feels like us.
Why should pet products be excluded from that?
Why should caring deeply about our pets mean compromising how our homes feel?
I don’t think it should.
And apparently, a lot of pet owners feel the same way.
That is why we are launching KibbleKraft on Kickstarter.
Not just to fund production, but to build this alongside a community of people who believe pet products can be smarter, better made, and genuinely beautiful.
For our first 30 days on Kickstarter, early supporters will receive exclusive launch pricing and discounts that will not be available after the campaign ends.
This is our way of saying thank you to the people willing to believe in something new early.
The people who understand that premium products take time, thought, and care to build properly.
The people who believe their pets deserve more.
And their homes do too.
This is the beginning of something we’ve wanted for a long time.
I truly look forward to taking this journey with each of you.
Sincerely,
Robert H. Mayer
